| What Is Black Ceramic? Black ceramic is a durable, scratch-resistant material that was specialized bonding agents. The result is a superior ceramic material that can hold its shine for years. In fact, black ceramic is so strong that it is used in parts for space shuttles and jet- engine turbine blades. This ceramic is nothing like what you may have seen in art shops or decorating someone’s shelves. Black ceramic is completely hypoallergenic. It is so hypoallergenic that it is frequently used in bio-medical implants and in dentistry. Black ceramic is lighter in weight than tungsten carbide, providing a very comfortable wear for people who prefer a less substantial weight on their hands. Most black rings rely on an overlay for their black color. These overlays only cover the surface of the piece and can be scratched or chipped off. Black ceramic bands are black all the way through.
