What Does My White Gold Look Yellow?

Pure gold is a yellow, brass-like color. To create white gold, it
is alloyed (mixed) with white toned metals. Because gold
must be at least ten parts pure, it still has a yellow tinge after
alloying. To combat this problem, most white gold jewelry has
a rhodium overlay to give it the bright white look that you love.
Rhodium is a type of platinum. This overlay will wear off over
time but it can be reapplied quickly and easily.

If you don't like the additional maintenance that comes with
white gold jewelry, you can always choose 950 platinum or
palladium jewelry, which are permanently white metals.
